Uno to Nano 328p

Examples for Hardware serial don't work between nano and uno.

The data i'm gettin back on serial Monitor is ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? . Baud is 9600 in Sketch and so is in Serial Monitor for both boards. Any ideas why?
