[enhancement] Allow newsmangler to be run as a background process

Currently you can't run newsmangler as a background process without the status updates still taking control of the terminal. Since uploads take a long time usually, would be if support could be made for it to operate in the background smoothly.

run it via screen / tmux ?

Yea I currently run it that way in a seperate screen of its own. Inelegant solution though + needlessly takes up window space.
