Auto-Update Does Not Work
I get this when I launch Hot or check for updates:
When I click the Install button, the install bundle is downloaded (nice progress dialog), and I get this:
If I shut down Hot, download the zip file from Github and manually install it in /Applications
, we are good.
This is usually caused by permissions issues.
Most likely your current user does not have access to the Hot app.
Have you installed it from another account?
There's nothing I can really do about it.
I don't want to ask for elevated privileges on such an app.
No, installed from my account (I'm the only user on the box) — And I'm admin on the box to boot. But just for fun, I'll try moving it from /Applications
to ~/Applications
and see what happens.
It's a great little app though. Lets me see how the junky MacAfee anti-virus crud that's forced upon us brings the box to its knees.
Can you tell me output of a ls -al, so I can see the permissions/owner on the app?
Sure. I'm the owner (x074
), group is admin
.
And launchd
has it running under my credentials:
So I got the same error and it got fixed when I moved the app to the applications folder. Once its there, run the update and it should work. Probably some macos permissions thing.
same problem, i moved hot in the application folder, but still can't update.. any fix available?
EDIT: i updated again and it updated perfectly, thanks!
I think the updater needs to close the app first and then copy the app, if possible
I am trying to install this on a brand new system. I went to https://imazing.com/downloads and immediately after running it the first time it tells me there is an update available. Why is 1.4.1 linked on the website when 1.6.1 is available? When I try to do the update it fails and says "Cannot move the original application to the trash." Is there a direct link to the latest version?
I have no issues on multiple devices (macos m1, mac mini m1, macbook pro intel), with fresh and no fresh versions. I think this issue can be closed, because no activity and other bug reports like this.
