Better SMBIOS personality?

I tried out iMacPro1,1 and noticed that the computer felt a bit snappier. Geekbench scores for MacPro7,1 and iMacPro1,1 seem to be the same or within 100 points or so.

I notice one reproducible thing:

  • Start htop as MacPro7,1. There is about a 5+ second delay to it even drawing, but then everything starts right up and works.
  • Start htop as iMacPro1,1. Instantaneous every time.

I suspect it has something to do with both this machine and iMacPro1,1 having Skylake CPUs. There is no other difference I noticed. Can someone help me test this and write feedback in this thread?

While I don't have the 7820 I have noticed the same improvements in performance (and stability, too) when switching my T3610 to iMacPro1,1 (even without having a Skylake CPU). iMacPro1,1 also seems to have much better GPU performance in video editing workloads.
