Not sure why the `query` code block does not work. This seems like an Obsidian bug to me. I will confirm that.

A setting for this sounds good, but the bigger problem is that I don't know how to switch the code block to editing, as Obsidian induces the current behavior.

From the issue you linked, it seems like this is caused by that other plugin. There is nothing I can do in meta bind to fix this.
