No streaming support in native apps
Hi,
I used Hotot or Chrome, but I recently switched to Firefox, so I now use Hotot-Qt. But in Hotot-Qt, tweets appear in batches, so I concluded that it does not use the Streaming API.

Hotot does use the streaming api, but the embedded webkit seems to sometimes misbehave. Which version (git commit id) are you running?
Maybe try a newer version. You might have been hit by the webkit bug (which makes Hotot fall back to polling every X minutes and getting infos in batch). Current HEAD should fix that issue.
