Method to reduce same letter SFB
First of all, thanks for developing this layout! I've been using it for a couple of days now.
This part of the readme peeked my interest:
“Same finger” (abbreviated “S.f.” in some columns above) is the percentage of all your keypresses that will be performed by the same finger (excluding typing the same letter twice in a row), which tells how bad a layout is.
This is something that can be improved using a repeat key, like NotGate describes in the bonus section[1]
A good place to put it is on top of "a", since "aa" is not a common bigram (I think). In the anishtro2 layout, mine looks like this (R is the repeat key):
Rlucj kdgwq
anisv bhtro
/'yfx zpm,.
e ␣

Hi! Wow, so cool to see someone else try my layout! 😍
Thanks for sharing the idea of a “repeat” key – I’ve never thought about that before! Personally I’m a bit worried about putting it on a pinky – especially outside the home row. I’m thinking double letters is pretty common and that would cause much more work for the poor pinky. But I’d have to try it to know for sure I guess!
Brain fart
Note that as far as I can remember (and as far as I could tell by glancing at my old scripts again), when I calculate “same finger” I don’t think I count things like “mm” as a “same finger”, only when the letters are different like “om”. I think I assumed there’s nothing to do about double presses so I didn’t make that part of any numbers. Edit: I’m stupid, you even quoted this part: “(excluding typing the same letter twice in a row)”
I think is not as bad as SFB that would be in the same column, but personally I think is more comfortable using this repeat key. About the placement, I don't think that this would be important enough to put it into the home row, and I personaly don't mind much using the pinky, I prefer it to using the inner columns.
Hi! Wow, so cool to see someone else you my layout! 😍
I found your layout via a blog post by NotGate, and I always wanted to try using "e" in a thumb key like in the maltron layout, but the "d" in the inner column is a deal breaker for me, so yours is a good fit.
There is some improving to do, now I'm typing at a 10 wpm and having to think out every keystroke lol.
You kept using your layout over the years?

Interesting! Do you have a link to that blog post?

Oh, yes! I’m typing this very message on it and I use it every day :) I’ve kept the letter layout in this repo, and the punctation layout in https://github.com/lydell/keyboard pretty stable over the years. I’ve done more tweaking to the arrow keys, tab and some other function keys as I’ve switched keyboards, started using macOS and listened to my hands and wrists.
