Intermittent issues: "Error while unlocking: xxxxx"

For about half a year, I've been using this extension without any problems. For about three weeks, I'm experiencing serious intermittent issues, where locks cannot be opened. The error doesn't say much: Error while unlocking: xxxx

Is anyone experiencing similar issues? Is there some way to debug this?
