Does Cinnamon uses Gnome Shell? As Cinnamon is a fork of Gnome, could this extension work on it?

Hi, honestly I'm not expert about cinnamon and I haven't even tried it, but AFAIK shell extensions only work with GS. Maybe there could be a way of adapting it as I see that Cinnamon has a site dedicated to extensions as well.
