Hi! Excuse the late response, I completely missed your question.

There is no way to arm mappings using a shortcut at the moment.

If you have some other way to run a program using a shortcut, you could use the command line interface described here. This is probably not helpful for you though.

I'll leave your question open as a feature request, since it does seem like a useful feature.
