copy current URL does not work reliably?
It seems that "Copy current URL" often does not copy the URL of the page. For instance, I open a web browser, search for something, use the hints to open one or more pages. I move around (with keyboard only, say scroll up and down) on those pages. But when I do "Copy current URL" it does not copy the actual URL of the page I am visiting. (It does copy it if I click on the page with the mouse).
This happens in FF 59.0.1 and Chrome 64.0.3282.140, under GNU Linux (Debian)
Same thing here!
Mozilla Firefox 68.0 Ubuntu 19.04
FF 82.0.2, Ubuntu 18.04: Same problem, but it isn't solved for me by clicking on the page. It just doesn't work 90% of the time, and every once in a great while it will function.
The steps are basically:
- Open a new tab
- {optional) switch to it if not already switched by default
- Use the keyboard to copy the URL
- Switch to an already open notepad/leafpad text editor
- Paste from the clipboard
The combinations tested and all confirmed failing are:
- Open link with hit-a-hint key press
- Open link with hit-a-hint key press to a new foreground tab
- Open link with hit-a-hint key press to a new background tab
- Open link with mouse
- Open link with mouse to a new foreground tab
- Switch to background tab with Saka key press
- Switch to background tab with Firefox standard key press (Ctrl+Tab)
- Switch to background tab with mouse
- Copy URL with key press (emacs style, various non-conflicting copy commands)
- Switch to open text editor with alt+tab (or equivalent WM key presses)
- Switch to open text editor with mouse
- Paste from clipboard with key press
- Paste from clipboard with mouse right-click
- Paste from clipboard using clipboard manager (clipboard manager added for this one test type)
