Status of this plugin?

It appears to be a couple years since the last commit but says its not quite 1.0 ready yet.

I'm just wondering what the status of this plugin is? Is there an alternate way to get prometheus metrics into splunk?

I'm wondering the same. @justinmchase did you find an alternative (or other path forward)?

I was making use of this around 2 years ago for a Mattermost Splunk App (Mattermost exposes Prometheus metrics):

Looks like Splunk have announced support for Prometheus. I'm trying to wrap my head around what this actually looks like (and how easily our customers could take advantage of it):

Well that was May of 2020... so thats nuts. I've been looking for that link for a year. Thanks, I'll check it out and see if it will work for me.
