Scaling issue

Small scale projects build time is fairly small, but once it hits the size of a normal project build times as well as watch times are very slow. Not sure what part is taking so long but a manual replace of the buffers doesn't add 30 seconds to my builds were using the inline parser does. I am creating this bug as a tracker for myself as I plan on figuring out the issue and making a pull request.

On that what is the minimum requirements for nodejs so I can make sure my code changes don't effect any set limitations?
