Very high mobile data usage

Open felixhirt opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

The game uses massive amounts of mobile data on my phone (for this month, around 180MB foreground and 120MB background data). Is this possible? Or did i catch a malware infested version in the play store or something? And if this is by design, can the data usage be switched off?

Hi! Thanks for your feedback. I will take a look on this. Currently, the F-droid build doesn't do any request, so probably this is a Google issue. On Google build the only request it does are for Google Services (e.g, Ads and Google Play Games). It also send anonymous metrics to Amplitude but they are irrelevant (e.g, what game difficulty is used, settings).

If you got it from Play Store or F-Droid it should not have any malware. I can't guarantee the same for any other store.

BTW, I think it's something related to Ads. But it's funny because it shouldn't do nothing in background.

@felixhirt It show ads on 'New Game' click after a game over, but not always. However, google downloads the ads before show them.

The f-droid version does not seem to have the problem, thanks for offering this alternative.
