Adblock not hiding elements

So i've just installed and configured Luakit, and installed the Adblock plugin. I'm sad to see Adblock only disables the advertisements, but it doesn't hide the elements. This way the ad is still in the way. I know this is a known issue (according to the Wiki), but why is this done?
