I've run into this while installing the package in Atom 1.7.3 under OS X Yosemite. With 1.7.2 it was working fine, until I updated. I think this is a duplicate of this other bug report.
I've tried globally installing the oniguruma package with npm install -g [email protected] but that doesn't seem to have any effect, though it installed correctly. I guess it's because Atom uses different node and npm versions? I have
node v6.0.0
npm v3.8.8
