SSL connection error (failed to open stream: operation failed : auctions.holtsauctioneers.com)
Site name and description
What is the name and the URL of the site you would like dezoomify to support ?
https://auctions.holtsauctioneers.com
Why is this site of particular interest ? The more popular the site, the more chance you have to see dezoomify supporting it someday.
It is one of the best known sites for vintage shotguns and rifles and has buyers from all over the world, lots of whom would like to share the images on facebook etc for other fans. Their images are amazing and used to work in dezoomify. I suspect something has been put into their code.
Example URLs
- Give the URLs of viewing pages

- give the URLs of metadata files if you found them
Current error message
Describe the error dezoomify currently gives you when you try to dezoomify images from this site. Error: Unable to fetch https://auctions.holtsauctioneers.com/asp/fullcatalogue.asp?salelot=A0919++++635+&refno=++137690&image=5 The server responded: fopen(https://auctions.holtsauctioneers.com/asp/fullcatalogue.asp?salelot=A0919++++635+&refno=++137690&image=5): failed to open stream: operation failed (https://ophir.alwaysdata.net/dezoomify/zoommanager.js:394)
When using dezoomify-rs I get this: Dezoomer error: Unable to create the dezoomer: Tried all of the dezoomers, none succeeded. They returned the following errors:
- deepzoom: Unable to create the dezoomer: Unable to parse the dzi file: 2:1 Unexpected token '<!' before 'd'
Any ideas?
It looks like our web server cannot establish a secure connection with auctions.holtsauctioneers.com. This is an issue I'll have to sort with my hosting provider. In the meantime, you can use HTTP instead of HTTPS.

Qualys reports an F grade in their SSL report for this site: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=auctions.holtsauctioneers.com
@Robbie606 : you might want to report this problem to them (without mentioning dezoomify, of course). Just say that you have issues connecting in HTTPS and attach the SSL report.
Previous issue: #112
Thanks you for your help on this, I will write to them. You suggested I should 'say that you have issues connecting in HTTPS and attach the SSL report.' How would these connection issues present themselves if I'm asked?
When I delete the 's' in https, dezoomify does now download most of the tiles but I get my old problem of it sticking on 82% every time. But that's better than nothing I suppose, but it does mean I get a white box which means I have to Photoshop it or crop. Any ideas on that?
I cannot reproduce the 82% error. Can you provide a screenshot? (on your previous issue, maybe)
If you write to them, you don't have to lie. Just say that they have a problem with their HTTPS site that makes it insecure, and link to the report. Their systems administrator should know what to do.
I've sent an email and link to them so hopefully they'll fix it. Re: the 82% issue. Od 8 downloads one was 100% the rest had the same problem. I thought it might down to file size, but the 100% images was actually the largest. Weird. Here's a .png of it. Luckily most of the images have a large black border. The bottom line of tiles is always white and the last tile above usually fails too.

Thanks for your patience!
I contacted alwaysdata (who provide the server that hosts dezoomify) asking them to upgrade their SSL library. We'll see what they answer, but I doubt they'll be willing to do the upgrade just for me. I'm not a paying customer, and doing the upgrade is a lot of work for them.
Hi Ophir,
Thanks for doing that. Every little helps. There must be other sites that fail for this reason. If only all sites were properly written!
Best wishes,
Robert
