[DISCUSSION] Elevation Feedback!
Hi there! With the recent release, elevation was implemented into the generated Minecraft world. We'd love to hear your feedback if you like it, on how it looks, its performance and if there are any issues you have encountered! :) Also feel free to share screenshots here if you encounter any nice locations!
I know about soviet buildings very well, let's take with this 1960s apartment: Я очень хорошо знаю насчёт советских зданий, давайте возьмём пример с квартиры 1960-ых годов:
And remember, if player doesn't fit in, just replace roof material. Instead of block, we replace with slab, it's simple
Are you sure that a 5 storey building can be 9 meters? How is it possible to live there, considering the thickness of the floors there won't even be 1.8 m per story, but 1.6 m
@Oleg4260 Смотря на то, в какую серию входит каждая квартира
Very cool, I always wanted to see Dnipro city with its huge hills
Very cool feature, thanks. Been trying out a few areas, and unfortunately the terrain doesn't seem properly aligned with the other map features (roads, buildings, etc). It looks like there is an offset. For example, when using the bbox 37.976173 -122.575922 37.985001 -122.560258, you can see from the screenshots that in google earth (and reality), the large hill is behind the car park and supermarket. However, in Arnis/minecraft, the car park is flowing up the hill. This is just one example...
@mpr90 I agree, I noticed the same problem. For example, the lake here isn't aligned with the bottom of the quarry
About bridges, for example Dnipro city, Central bridge
The road level is not aligned with the water level, so it gets flooded. I suppose elevating particular types of bridges, e.g bridge:structure=beam can solve the problem, while bridge:structure=floating can stay on the same level with water
I was experimenting with generating mountains in Arnis, and I found out that if you increase MAX_Y in the ground.rs file and install a datapack that increases max build height, it works without any further patches. I succesfully generated the Hoverla mountain in the Carpathians, but noticed the same issue as in #399 and as @mpr90 said above: the paths that are meant to be on the peak are about 200 blocks off.
The elevation of the area hardly matches my location at all
@louis-e
Thanks for the ping, I'll look into fixing the shifted elevation bug before the next release! :)
@louis-e Is this a known bug or something you need to find?
@huiiksde There's a known bug that the elevation is shifted and not mapped correctly by a few meters. Also I've heard that it's not working properly in the southern hemisphere. This will be taken care of before the next release! :)
All the problems described in this issue thread have now been addressed by patches in the main branch. A release containing those fixes will follow soon!
