Set Minecraft save location

Open MatthewSwart opened this issue 11 months ago • 7 comments

Hi All

When I run the application I select the area that I want to build and then select world, no matter option I select saved game or generate new world I am getting an error.

The only thing I can think of is that my game save folder is in a different location to the hardcoded location and I am wondering if anyone can point me in the correct direction.. Pretty please as my daughter dying to get this working

Kind regards

Matt

I'd also like to ask how to do this from the CLI

Maybe that's because you're generating a really big location? Try generating just 1 city

Also, you can choose the save location yourself, just find the mc folder, if it's not the default one, and pin it on the side of the explorer, and you won't have to search for it each time

@Dudunkin

Maybe that's because you're generating a really big location? Try generating just 1 city I'd like to go against that notion. I'm using Linux, and I can generate the the world, before selection. I'm trying to create all of Puerto Rico (see issue #300) and can still generate the save.

@Dudunkin

I have tried with a small town in South Africa 20km² roughly and still getting the same outcome.

Any suggestions welcome.

I'm not happy with how I do it, and still think it should be available via the CLI (There IS a function for it) But I generally use another build and take the coords and make a new save. You may want to check the source code to see where it looks for, and make a symbolic link there. BUT Building from source ignores this for me (again, Linux user, theres a thing with building for linux, but haven't looked into it) despite not happening in the release builds.

Thanks for the feedback! First of all; be careful with too large areas, even a 20km² area might need several gigabytes of ram memory. :D Could you maybe share the log file at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\com.louisdev.arnis\logs? I think that might make it a bit easier figuring out where exactly this error comes from :)
