Describe the bug Keep on pinging for notification after uninstall on MacOS 13.7.1 (22H221)

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior: Uninstall by dropping the app in the bin empty it keep on getting notification each time you wake from sleep and

Expected behavior I am expecting that when I "uninstall it" in the mac way the components of the application are deleted or that at least I would have something to help me clean my system and not having garbage left behind...

Desktop (please complete the following information): Latest Binary 1.5.2.dmg MacOS 13.7.1 (22H221)

Additional context I also tried to join the discord but the link is broken, overall I am less than impressed by all of this...

Have you considered that somebody built this in their valuable spare time and offered it for free?

A good way to start an issue on GitHub, especially when it comes to open source software, is to thank the maintainer for their work. Another great thing to do is to focus on what you actually want to report. I can understand your frustration, but writing toxic comments like this will not help you resolve the issue. In fact it hurts other people that probably poured hundreds of hours of unpaid work into something so YOU can use it for free. Have some fucking respect mate.

Hi Kris,

Thank you, I was initially going to apologise for the misunderstanding, because my tone was not supposed to be this abrasive, and probably was in retrospect, but the more I read your message the more it rubbed me the wrong way.

You berated a user that

  • Installed the app because he was curious
  • Tested it for a grand total of 3 min
  • Found it neat, but you did not know that did you, but did not feel like keeping it because journaling is something he wished he would do but he knows himself.
  • Uninstalled it.
  • Ran into something that he never ran in before.
  • Googled in someone had the issue before but did not find anything specific to this particular problem.
  • Started to get frustrated
  • Went to the website.
  • Went to the community tab
  • Decided to try, actually was a bit excited to see whom would be there and less frustrated about the whole ordeal because there might be some fun people to talk to, the discord link to see if someone ran into an issue or even talking a but about the project
  • Link is dead, that made him very frustrated (though the dono link is there and alive mate (sorry André you're catching strays here for no reasons and of course it's your right to propose people to donate if they appreciate and use the software built on your own time and with your passion))
  • Took his time to open an issue after all that on a GitHub account he uses every 36th of the month with a goddamn two factor auth app that he also uses every 35th of the month.
  • Gets berated because he needs to check his privilege for testing a thing out for three minutes then trying to figure out for half an hour where the rest of the files of the software may or may not be or if it is even an OS bug and took his time to be a good citizen and report it get some help and get frustrated in the process.

Bear in mind when I mean "garbage" I do not mean the software, which I actually found neat for the whole three minutes where I used it, but by definition if I uninstall ANYTHING from ANYONE if something is left behind and not cleaned after itself, it is, by definition garbage, and I qualify my own stuff as such, most of the times.

The fact that you got stuck on the "not impressed" part rubbed me REALLY the wrong way, because if you have a big, fat, red button that tells you to join the discord, you click on it, and it is dead, after you are already frustrated. Be honest and tell me Kris, would you be impressed? Would you?

Overall you did not address

  • The problem in any way shape or form
  • The fact that one of the link that invites people talking about the software is dead (but present very prominently on the community page where I was asking myself where to find info on how to report an issue or ask a question)

I did not come here to berate the people on what they wrote. I did not come here to DEMAND my problem to be solved. I did not come here to be berated by a random person to tell me to "have some fucking respect". I am just a random guy feeling like that scene from Malcom in the middle about fixing a light-bulb.

On this one I will close this ticket, no disrespect to anyone, because actually I liked the idea and the packaging of this neat app but it was not for me and my experience felt soured by the uninstall, but I have other things to do, and I will solve the problem by myself, at some point, and just never come back, which I am sure you will be delighted to hear Kris.

But apart from that I genuinely, and unironically, wish you a nice evening, nice continuation, more than you did in your message to me Kris.

Have a good one, mate.

Hi @GeoffreyMullier,

Thanks for your report. I understand that encountering issues after uninstalling can be really frustrating and I appreciate you taking the time to bring it to my attention. That said, I’d like to mention that the tone of your message came across as a bit harsh. I’m here to help and would love to work together to find a solution.

Could you check if there are any files remaining in ~/Library/Application Support/design.lost.linked? That might help clear up any leftover components.

I also tested the Discord link on multiple devices and it appears to be working fine. Could you let me know what error message you’re seeing? This would help me figure out what might be causing the issue on your end.

Thanks again for reaching out.

Best regards, André
