[Cog 3195]

Describe I love using Cog. I have been a user of this amazing program for over a decade. Since new updates with either my OS or the new updates of Cog. I have been having issues with the program.

  1. When I add a folder/directory, Cog will no longer add the files in the proper track order. IE - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. As the files are tagged that way. Cog used to do this in older versions.

  2. When scrubbing through the files, there is a crazy buzzing noise every time I scrub through a song. In older versions this is not the case.

I have reverted back to a 2022 version in order to have this functionality back and no more buzzing while I seek through a song. Only thing is, with this older version I can't access the settings as Cog says it is trying to connect to my NAS, but cannot? Weird.

I can provide a video of the audio issue I am talking about if needed. Thank you for reading!

Version information:*

  • macOS version: 15.6 (24G84)
  • Cog version: [Cog 3195]

  1. Cog has never sorted files by their tags on open, since it doesn't process the tags immediately. It currently sorts them by their filenames, using a method similar to Finder. And it sorts in sub-groups, in the event that a file is a playlist, a CUE sheet, or similar, and doesn't sort the contents of such multi-track files, so they come out in their original order. Containers themselves are sorted by their paths, so each group will be arranged by where it was loaded from.
  2. Scrub was improved post-3195, and should be even better with an upcoming release. (The current release, 3201, will crash regularly if you scrub too quickly.)
