Updated GitHub Pages instructions

Open wrongsyntax opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

The instructions for GitHub Pages were not very helpful, but adding the theme via a short line to _config.yml worked perfectly. I updated the README.md file to reflect this. This method can be used for all themes based on GitHub.

I have just tried this and it seems to work well, and is indeed much easier.

Hi all, thanks for contributing! Yeah it is an easy solution, mind that in this way the theme must always be deployed as a gem: https://jekyllrb.com/docs/themes/

You could run then bundle update lorepirri/cayman-blog or simply bundle update to also update to the latest version.

Let me check if the deploy mechanism is still updated and we'll merge this.

Thanks again, and sorry for the late, recently I'm a bit overwhelmed by projects.

I also used this approach and it's much simpler then installing the gem and running jekyll commands. You only need the _config.yml for a minimal site.
