Unfix the world map in the minimap

Open Corbeau-1 opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Currently the world map in the minimap is fixed. The screen window is moving and the land is fixed. This causes inconvenience when your nation is placed over the break line (see image) because you can't center on your land to get a better perspective and plan strategy.

More preferrable variant: the window is fixed in the centre of the minimap and the world map itself moves.¸

Having used it for a while now in LT76, I actually like that the view is fixed. I find it easier to understand the world this way, especially with poles+wrapx+wrapy.

Maybe we could center the minimap around the capital? This could also be made an option like what is shown on the map (now that we have a button to change them quickly).

Your agument works only for the example you mentioned. And even there it's only your personal preference. As what I mentioned is mine. Make a poll? Or create an additional button that, while pressed, centres the map on the "centre of the map" or capitol or both.

I mean, it's fine and dandy if you are in the "centre", but when your empire spans both on "far east" and "far west", it's much less convenient. I had a game where my capital was literally on the edge of the map.

I'm aware of that. It seems there are different use cases that cannot be easily handled by a single solution. Which is why I'm considering adding an option for this.
