500 Error: 'Not found' ... dist/static

I'm not sure if this is being maintained but I paid for the tutorial and during the environment setup I had a 500 Server error pop up instead of the "Not Google Plus" blank page expected.

The solution was relatively simple, I 'mkdir dist' the linked 'static' folder to 'dist/static' and the error was resolved. There may be a more elegant solution, but I'm still on video 1 of the tutorial. What would it take to port this to python 3? I just realized the tutorial is 3 year old
