Implements proposal from #44

Hi. Thanks for diagnosing and fixing your problem. I'd prefer to not have this be default behavior unless you can point to documentation that lfs checkouts don't slow down or degrade checkouts for anyone else. If you could add add an optional input named checkout-lfs that users can opt-in to, happy to review
