Wacom Tablet Doesn't draw anything on the Whiteboard (only on ground layer)

What Happened?

I tried to draw on an empty area in the whiteboard using my wacom one tablet, the pointer disappears and nothing seems to show up on the screen, however if I try to draw something on top of an image or a shape, it works perfectly. I can surely live with this workaround but this is how things get better in open source, so reporting it.

There is also a forum page for this - https://discuss.logseq.com/t/pen-tablet-not-supported/17868/2 (no one has answered to this until I did :( Come on community! We can easily give those giant corporations a run for their money with this project!) - Of course Logseq guys will charge money for Teams once v1.0 releases.

[Lazy to submit a Feature Request] Also there is no brush size adjustment option for pen tool (or any other tool) in whiteboard section. this can be annoying (even if pen pressure works) especially at times when you want to draw over something (my workaround as mentioned above), most likely an image that you downscaled, and in theory, without the brush size adjustment your line can be as big as the image.

TLDR; There should be brush size adjustment option where the measurement units are not pixels, but rather they are display dpi - that is line size is same regardless of how much you zoom into the canvas. This should make sense for whiteboarding - I wonder why even figjam or miro haven't thought of this.

Reproduce the Bug

  1. Open Whiteboards section.
  2. Connect Wacom Tablet to PC / Laptop.
  3. Try to draw something.

Expected Behavior

When you draw on screen, pointer disappears and nothing will show up on the canvas.

@bruhly-bot Thanks creating a github issue for this. I missed the initial forum thread, but I also replied there to get some info from the OP if possible.

I can’t reproduce this using a Wacom Intuos Pro or a Wacom One (pen display). Could you please share the exact model that you use? Note that there are multiple Wacom One models

I found that Logseq does not support Pen mode. Mouse mode is okay.

#10222 will be included in the upcoming release. Please upgrade Logseq when 0.9.19 is out, enable pen mode, test this again and report back if possible. Thank you!

Hi @sprocketc, I just tried this on a Surface Pro 3. On v0.9.19 it works (you can draw on the ground layer as expected with the pen). However on v0.9.20 it no longer works (though you can still draw on top of a shape with the pen).

Thanks for your efforts!

Hi @sprocketc, apologies, it does work as expected still in v0.9.20. I thought "pen mode" meant the pen option in the right hand side toolbar rather than the bottom toolbar which I noticed after having a look at #10222.

It works really well! Thanks very much :)

Hello, I tried both my Surface Pen and my Wacom Intous Pro on v0.9.20, but they just work initially and then they stop. Toggling the pen mode does not even allow the pen to select elements.

Thanks for your report. I'll check this. This should be a regression.

Regarding the Wacom Intous Pro, I just updated the driver and now seems to work smoothly. I haven't check with the pen (on Surface Laptop / Windows 11)

Sorry, I need to update my comment because it's buggy again, crashing constantly.

Hello, re-opening this discussion as I was working on a whiteboard and my pen tablet (Wacom Intous Pro) just stopped working while I was creating and connecting some blocks. Is anyone else experiencing this? Changing toggling pen mode doesn't change anything, as it recognises the pen moving but does not receive any input (double click for new block, drawing tool, etc.)

I don't really know how to reproduce because it was functioning initially and then just stopped

Tried using it with 0.10.9 on Linux under Wayland, and I can't draw on the Whiteboard (or click anything in Logseq) with my Wacom Intuos, but it works fine elsewhere (e.g. Krita, excalidraw in Browser).
