Original ISP Authentication

Hello, i have got the same isp as you which installed me an EG8145v5 Huawei router. The trouble is that they changed the default Epadmin user and left me only restricted one. If I want to replace this router with another one, I understand that I need to configure only the SN of the old device in the new device, right? In ont authentication there isn't nothing, everything is blank. On the wan information I can see only a vlan configured.

Hi. It depends. I don't know that router, but maybe that SN field is hidden if the user is not admin. Or maybe, they use the password auth, which is possible also. If you get to access the router with admin privileges, and both sn/password are blank, maybe the use MAC as a way to identify you in their network. I see that EG8145v5 is a ONT+Router, so you have to be sure if the ISP uses PPPOE too in order to get an IP. In that case, you need those credentials in order to be able to change your router.

In portugal as you can see we have 2 fields to handle

Password and SN and you need both.

@pmgcosta what is your carrier? I have also this same ONT from a Vodafone contract and on the ONT authentication tab I only have the password field.

Hey @logon84 hope u fine im in same boat the isp use raisecom modem with lan port and tv coax and optical cable for internet. double nat with pppoe from another router so the problem even if i reset the modem nothing change i cant login to modem i tried even manual ip from pc but failed. The problem also come because i cant watch my cameras i can only if i get static ip which cost more and i dont like static ip. Im asking if there anyway to purchase similiar modem to and clone with their modem serial and so on. Before was easy when they used doscis modems so i got modified firmware haxorware with sb5100 but this sucks i cant find anything thank you
