Google API Key Needs Re-entering

  • [ ] Disable all other plugins besides Copilo (required)
  • [ ] Screenshot of note + Copilot chat pane + dev console added (required)

Copilot version: 2.8.6

Describe how to reproduce Very simple. I keep having to re-enter my Gemini api key every day. For some reason chat won’t connect if we don’t remove and reenter the key.

Sorry. Here are the pictures.

I use a M3 max 14” MacBook Pro and an iPhone 16 pro on iOS18.3.1

The API will work just fine for a couple of days but then will start to fail (pictures attached). To resolve the issue I need to clear out the API key and re-enter it.

I have this same issue with the same error when dealing with my OpenAI API key. It has been happening for several months now.

@wigeonwoody @brunopmolina This is caused by the failure of your syncing tool, something that's out of our control. Copilot settings including the api keys are in data.json that should be correctly synced.

Ok. Thank you for the update. Can you tell me specifically what file or data is not being synced correctly? I am using Obsidian Sync and I want to understand the issue before I submit an issue to Obsidian.
