Hosting of your framework

Open elreydetoda opened this issue 7 years ago • 43 comments

I don't know if you knew about this or not, but since your framework is just static files (no php or anything like that) you can actually use github to host it. It is called github pages that is just letting you know a bit about it. That way you don't have to pay for hosting fee's, if you are, and you can still keep the same domain as well. Just a little suggestion, because that is what we are doing with one of our (repos)[https://github.com/49thSecurityDivision/slideshows). Let me know if you have any other questions! I meant to tell you during the OSINT class, but forgot and just remembered, because of messing around with one of our repos.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out!

Any particular reason this was never implemented?

It's super easy to set up. Observe:

@bcoles can you submit a pull request so @s0lray can possibly merge that?

elreydetoda avatar Oct 24 '18 06:10 elreydetoda

@elreydetoda No, @s0lray would need to implement GitHub Pages through the GitHub Pages interface.

Additionally, a small modification to the filesystem layout of The Framework would also be required.

I mangled the framework as a quick demonstration. Refer to my gh-pages branch. In short, the index.html and arf.json files were simply moved from the public directory to the root of the repository.

you didn't really address the issue and just closed it? what gives?

melvin2001 avatar Oct 24 '18 17:10 melvin2001

lol, I could, but nah.

s0lray avatar Nov 04 '18 19:11 s0lray

This requires effort, when not doing it doesn't take any effort.

Is there an update?

I did this with one of my repos too.

Is there a path to green on this?

melvin2001 avatar Apr 12 '19 16:04 melvin2001

@melvin2001 nah, presumably ~s0lray~ jnordine wants the attention and e-fame from providing the framework on osintframework.com rather than pointing DNS to GitHub pages, presumably for purpose of latter selling the domain. This issue won't be resolved.

As a customer of this framework, this issue is impacting my ability to do my job. Can we please get some clarity around when this issue will be resolved?

mairebear avatar Nov 15 '19 18:11 mairebear

I can not get this to compile on github pages without running into dependency errors. Can you please put this into a Docker container, thanks.

Yes

s0lray avatar Dec 06 '19 17:12 s0lray

Friendly bump. I would like to get some clarity around the expected timeframe for fixing this glaringly obvious issue.

pandatrax avatar Dec 13 '19 18:12 pandatrax

Not sure, just took a friendly bump of that e-fame so this isn't a priority right now.

s0lray avatar Dec 13 '19 18:12 s0lray

Is there someone that I can escalate this to?

pandatrax avatar Dec 13 '19 21:12 pandatrax

Being a uninterested observer, it's irrelevant to me whether or not this gets addressed. However, the lack of Bias for Action and Customer Obsession here shows a disconcerting lack of Ownership and Insisting on High Standards. Please Invent & Simplify so that you can Earn Trust from those that actually care.

melvin2001 avatar Feb 19 '21 03:02 melvin2001

Every second this website does not get hosted on Github pages, thirty-three penguins die. I have my sources. When this issue will be resolved, world's conflicts will resolve too. Make a choice.
