Segfaults on mips64el, s390x

Hi,

Thanks for your work on pynndescent. However, its tests shows segfaults on mips64el[1] and s390x[2]. If I remember correctly, they worked fine with version 0.5.1 of pynndescent, and this looks like a regression with 0.5.2

I did take a look, but there seems to be no obvious reason for this behaviour to be happening Please consider fixing this
