Is restoring and colorizing old photos possible with Fooocus?

Fooocus does not support recolor controlnet adapters. If you want to try the way described by @rvdd1962, you can certainly try to make it work, but i wasn't able to do so with vary (subtle), even with high prompt strength of 2. It only worked with vary (strong), but at this point it's basically not recoloring anymore but completely changing the image.

You might be better off using the fork https://github.com/fenneishi/Fooocus-ControlNet-SDXL?tab=readme-ov-file#Recolor. Your feedback is welcome!

Uhm, its still possible to use just fooocus alone to pull off a recoloring of vintage photo's. See results below. I didn't get it to work with image variation (img2img) subtle or strong either. But i was able to get some good results with using canny and a good prompt. see attachments below 4 settings

That one was simple, this famous B&W photo is a pain to convert into color because of the complex scene ;-/

thank u for the tips.. the thing is that I'd like to restore an old b&w blurry and scratch photo of my grandpa who passed away and I would like to create a replica of his face head and body ... just fix the photo as it was taken today instead of 80+ years ago...

At least for now and until Fooocus supports recoloring natively.

I gave it a shot. Used recolor in comfyui, upscaled and then used inpainted the environment and suit in Fooocus.

I used it mainly for the upscale. comfy did the recolor and final inpainting in fooocus

tried some topaz photo AI face restore and sharpening on that and might as well share it
