Problem unnecessary horizontal scollbar - Apply columns & apply current view with no effect

Open tobwz opened this issue 7 months ago • 5 comments

I am using the Full address Column WebExtension (currently v1.2.3 on Window 10 22H2) on Thunderbird v128 since a long time. It worked successfully a long time until recently (I detected the problems a couple of weeks ago).

As you can see in the first attached snapshot an unnecessary horizontal scroll bar appears in SOME (~20%) BUT NOT ALL message folders. When I scroll to the right there are no more columns.

If I select the brother message folder just above everything is fine. Hmm,whats wrong?

I tried to repair as follows: 1,) I selected the good message folder and clicked "Apply columns to" ....."Folder and its children" I selected bad message folder. 2.) Afterwards I selected the good message folder and clicked "Apply current view to" ....."Folder and its children" I selected bad message folder.

and....nothing happens. Bad horizontal folder remains. Exit+restart Thunderbird does not help.

I performed the same procedure to the top node of all message folders in the account: No effect. Unnecessary horizontal scrollbar is still visible. strangely enough for most of all remaining message folders the horizontal scrollbar does not appears although they contain all the same columns, order and widths.

So where is the problem? How can I solve it?

Deleting the corresponding folder *.msf file does not help either.

Seems more like a bug in Thunderbird. Is there a way to reliably reproduce the behavior? Does it go away when you disable FAC addon? Are there any related error messages in the console (CTRL-SHIFT-J)?

Can you confirm, that your current version of Full Address Column WExt supports Thunderbird v128ff? As far as I remember there was a time in the past when your WExt at this time did not support Thunderbird v128ff.

It does work with TB 128. Oldest supported version is 115.10.0. It also works with current daily version (140).

I think I found the problem:

It occurs when the "To:" header field (of at least one message in the folder) contains many, many (~ more than 15) recipients.

Most probably its the same with the "Bcc:" header field

Can you check and confirm this?

...and repair it

I don't think it's directly related to the add-on.
