Whats the diffrence between foreground prediction and alpha prediction?

Alpha stores values in range [0, 1] regarding the transparency of an image for each pixel. 1.0 means foreground, 0.0 means background, 0.5 means middle between foreground and background. This is in contrast with segmentation masks which only contains 0 and/or 1 with no values in between.
