Load the gallery / images in templates?

Hello,

Thanks so much for your work, this looks like a great port of photoswipe.

I can get photoswipe to work using the shortcodes in .md files, but what I really want to do is to build the gallery in the template files, so that I can automatically insert images listed in the frontmatter. I hope that makes sense. Have you any idea how to do this? ( I guess I need to copy some code from within one of the files in the shortcodes folder, and use that in a template .html file, and change the way the images are referenced, although I can't get it to work.) I've tried a few things, but I can't get it to work, so I'd be really grateful for any ideas on what to try next.
