this gets complicated by Lucid.Missing (merged today). would it be wise to introduce translation keys just for proof-reading purposes, even if we only have one language?

As far as I'm concerned, translation keys would add more noise than profit. OTOH, making the original keys uniform (even if CSS capitalizes them, etc.) reduces mental noise. Also, OCD. :)
