Libinput 1.28.1-1 breaks current release

Open little72-cmd opened this issue 9 months ago • 2 comments

Yesterday, I received an update for libinput that now requires libwacom 2.15 to run the most recent version. As a result, I had no keyboard or mouse functionality on my display manager (sddm), and I could not log into any desktop environment. I have temporarily fixed this by using the native pacman libwacom package with somewhat reduced functionality while I wait for libwacom-surface to be updated.

Because I use Arch, I understand and accept that bleeding edge updates will sometimes result in breaking changes such as this. However, I thought the devs should know that libwacom-surface 2.13 is no longer compatible with the most recent git release of libinput. I also thought it might help anybody who has the same issue to find a temporary fix and regain use of their computer, since I couldn’t find anybody else talking about it.

Got the same issue. It took me a while to understand that gdm crashed because of libinput and libinput could not be loeaded because required libwacom 2.15 while my system was still running libwacom-surface 2.13. Once updated PKGBUILD with 2.15 version and its sha256, compiled and installed everything works like a charm again. Anybody running arch can save the following as PKGBUILD inside . ~/cache/yay/libwacom-surface and get an updated package with makepkg -si

Thanks for that! Had exactly this issue on arch, ended up installing libwacom 2.15. Now I can revert to libwacom-surface.

Sorry for the delay. The packages should be updated now.
