Surface pro 5 loading the wrong config?
I've been having some poor iptsd responsiveness on my Surface Pro 5 and noticed that it's loading the config for Surface Pro 6 - is this likely to be causing an issue? How does the config file get selected, as I see there's also a Surface Pro 5 config file in that directory?

Microsoft changed the vendor ID of the Surface Pro 5 during its lifecycle when they acquired N-TRIG. Then they kept the same hardware and device ID on the Surface Pro 6. So this is the intended behavior.
Besides that, the config files only specify the dimensions of the screen and which axes are inverted. These values are identical for all Surface Pro devices, so it doesn't matter whether you load the config for Surface Pro 4, 5, 6, or 7.
