We used to have a direct-style JavaScript compiler.

It would be good to have a direct-style JavaScript compiler again. It obviously wont be able to compile many features of Links (due to the lack of control in JavaScript). However, it can be useful for experimentation and for generating chunks of code in direct-style, i.e. the setup of continuation bindings, resolution of server-side state, etc.
