Schedule Template Advanced UI: Duration -> Stop Time

Open wleese opened this issue 6 years ago • 1 comments

Currently when you create an advanced Schedule Template, you specify the Day, Start and Duration of a shift.

The use of "Duration" forces users to do arithmetic. If there is no added value to using duration as opposed to a fixed stop time, I'd like to suggest changing this.

Please let us know if this is acceptable and we'll create a PR.

I find myself using advanced mode more often to schedule day-long shifts on the calendar, rather than start time to end time events. Although, that's mostly personal preference. I believe our biggest reason for choosing duration was to allow for events longer than one week. There, "stop time" can be ambiguous unless an additional duration is specified (e.g. Monday 11:00 - Tuesday 11:00 vs Monday 11:00 - Tuesday 11:00 + 1 week), which becomes a bit cumbersome in the UI.
