Support more modern mockito?

We'd like to upgrade our local mockito implementation to take advantage of the fix for https://github.com/mockito/mockito/issues/3419. I believe this would mean upgrading to mockito 5.14.

Are there plans for dexmaker to support versions of mockito after 2.x? Are there insuperable obstacles to getting there, or are there opportunities to contribute?

(Note that it would be perfectly fine to close this with a link to "here's where it's documented that this is out of scope for this project", but the current documentation seems ambiguous on this point, as far as I can tell)
