Move linalg.org pages into github wiki or pages

Open mezzarobba opened this issue 7 years ago • 3 comments

Hello everyone,

While https://github.com/linbox-team/linbox/ lists three releases in 2017, http://linalg.org/index.html still shows 1.4.2 as the last release. Is that intentional?

Hi, Thanks for the report. Indeed linalg.org is mostly stalled since the move to github. I just updated the latest version number information. In a the future we should move all of its relevant content into github wikis or pages. I let this issue open for this task.

Some visual proposal for the github pages or readme.

Nice!

You might mention structured matrices. Perhaps the last two lines could be "blackbox algorithms for sparse, structured, and dense matrices'

Incidentally, as we develop more eliminations for sparse matrices in fflas/ffpack, I urge to keep in mind the possibility of hybrids that switch to blackbox when fill-in is too much for continued elimination to win (and too little to convert to dense). Particularly for very sparse matrices, you can't tell until elimination has proceeded a bit if blackbox would be better. Hooks for such runtime decision to switch to blackbox are desirable.
