Turning off !spell, !link and !constituent gives 43K allocs per sentence, 1.6MB per sentence. Still seems high. I guess this is mostly the connectors!?

Additional issue: MVs points at the first word of the (manner)-adverbial phrase. Need another link to point at the head-word (which can sometimes be a verb!)
The link-grammar.def file is not needed by Linux; its used only by Windows and MacOS, where it plays a vital role. Basically, it lists the functions that are publically visibile...
