I suspect it wouldn't give better performance than opencl, except for rare platforms that have AMD's tensor support (server processors only?)

Well, the newest version of ROCm seems that it gets performance as better as CUDA. MIGraphX also can be compared to TensorRT. Almost all the AMD GPU can run ROCm now.

As of October 2023 I have Linux and Radeon 6800XT Debian + recent Rocm from AMD site (5.7.0) (for ubuntu 20.04) , I ran various "compliance test" I have no problem with a self compiled Katago with OpenCL
