Search bar never goes away once focused on

I expect the search bar to shrink back to its original square size after I click away from it and don't have anything typed in it. Instead it stays open. Interestingly, if I go back to the Acorn home page and then click on my project again, the search bar is still active and has my cursor in it even if it didn't when I left.
