Homebrew failed to download resource "nip2", 404 error

I received the following error when attempting to install nip2 using Homebrew on Mac OSX High Sierra: curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found Error: Failed to download resource "nip2" Download failed: http://www.vips.ecs.soton.ac.uk/supported/8.4/nip2-8.4.0.tar.gz

Obviously, the url for nip2 in Homebrew isn't up to date. I've updated Homebrew twice and ran brew doctor, but I get the same error message. Is there an easy way to tell Homebrew to use the new url for nip2-8.6.0? I've already successfully installed VIP-8.6.0 using Homebrew.

Hello, I need to fix up the nip2 formula, I think it's been broken for a while :(

There's a nip2 macOS binary here:

It might be useful. It was made by this thing:
