Issues loading games on RetroArch on Arch

Been trying with two games with no success.

I've tried two sources for Ys, but both games will go to a blue screen after the initial MSX screen and remain there.

I've also tried to load Snatcher via an m3u - the MSX logo screen appears followed by the Snatcher title screen - then nothing (no options to run/load)

This is on an Arch Linux system running the flatpak version of RetroArch.

I've tried searching online for solutions but can't really find ones that apply - is this a common issue that has an easy fix that I'm missing?
