Some textures not dumping/replacing in The Legend of Dragoon

Open theflyingzamboni opened this issue 4 years ago • 0 comments

Description

The issue is twofold:

  1. Certain textures in the game do not dump properly (or at all). This primarily seems to occur with animated textures in otherwise 2D environments (field maps, world map, basically anywhere besides combat), and comes in several varieties.

One is that the textures do not dump at all. Since they aren't dumping, it's difficult to determine the extent of this, but at the least the text window border and continue arrow fail to dump.

The second is that an animation dumps what appears to be a number of transitional states, as well as images of 1 px height, instead of dumping the actual texture, making them unusable. For instance, the curling golden smoke effect on the logo here: image

Dumps as scores of images like this: image

The third issue is that sometimes textures will dump, but will have 'missing' instead of a palette hash in the file name (these textures were dumped from what seem to be water effects in the first area of the city Bale): image

  1. Even when these images dump properly, many do not seem to replace. Upscaled version of the two non-'missing' textures in the previous screenshot did not replace in the game, whereas the prerendered backgrounds and character model textures did.

Bisect results

This issue has been present since the texture dumping/replacement feature was introduced.
