Description

Hello there, I am trying to get the core to work I followed the instructions here!

I downloaded pcsx2 portable installed it copied everything over except the .exes I created the bios, cheats, cheats_ws, & memcards folders I placed all my multiple bios in the bios folder, They are matched up according to how the guide says they should be. The path is correct retroarch/system/pcsx2/bios all lowercase.

I've tried opening it with d3d11 as it says all I get in retroarch is failed to open libretro core.

The core is there in cores folder so idk why this is happening. I've tried using the functions in online updater update core info files, update assets, update databases, & update overlays & I still keep getting this error. I am not sure what to do at this point.

failing to even load the core is a more fundamental issue than setup, usually. Unfortunately, my suspicion is that it's incompatible with Windows 7. I'm not 100% sure on that, but that's my guess.

The issue lies with either the core or retroarch not the operating system pcsx2 works fine. The logs don't say anything further as to explain what "specified procedure" could not be found. What is this procedure because the file for the core is there?

Everything I'm seeing online says it stopped being compatible back in like 2022.

Nevertheless, that error usually suggests it can't find a dependency that it's linked against. I would think the latest MSVC++ redist runtime would be a good place to start.

I will give that a try then. It's confusing when the log doesn't produce more & it would be odd that pcsx2 runs fine but LPRS2 doesn't possibly because of this? I think it's something else worth investigating but I will look for that msvc++ & get back to you. Hopefully maybe someone can reproduce & figure what the procedure is.

@DeMoN100 Can you try to launch the dll with Dependencies ? We might get some information.

Thank you.

@Akunoko Thank you for the report. You did it with latest updated core ?

gouchi avatar Sep 19 '25 07:09 gouchi

@gouchi I hope so, I'm not sure where to check actual version of core. It is updated via 1.21 retroarch menu.

Akunoko avatar Sep 19 '25 07:09 Akunoko

@Akunoko If you used the online updater from Main tab > Online Update > Update installed cores you will have the latest.
