Feature request: Auto-reload controllers after changing `Settings -> Directory -> Controller Profiles`

Open davidhedlund opened this issue 1 month ago • 0 comments

Description

The back button functionality is broken for some controllers using RetroArch's fallback mode. This prevents users from reload new controller profiles by:

  • Navigating to Settings -> Directory -> Controller Profiles
  • Go back to Main Menu -> Quit -- which is required by Android ports of RetroArch to save configuration.
  • Start RetroArch again.

The way to set the back button is to manually configure the controller by following these steps:

  • Go to Settings -> Input -> RetroPad Binds
  • Select Port 1 Controls
  • Use the options Set All Controls and Save Controller Profile

Expected behavior

The controller should automatically become active upon connecting or changing directories.

Actual behavior

When switching to a directory containing a non-default controller profile, the controller doesn't activate automatically.

Steps to reproduce the bug

  • Go to Settings -> Directory -> Controller Profiles
  • Select a directory with a custom controller profile (not included with RetroArch by default).
