Configurable hide features in lime-app

Open ilario opened this issue 7 years ago • 3 comments

I'm not confident with lime-app, so if what I propose is out of scope, I apologize beforehand. If I got it correctly, lime-app will have also a tab for the node configuration. The proposal is that the list of options easily configurable by the node owner via lime-app should be possible to customize in the network-profile. For example, a community which decided to leave the APs open (no wpa-psk) could edit something in their network profile so that the WPA configuration part could be not-visible in lime-app.

@gmarcos87 @nicopace please let me know if the proposal is unclear, I can rephrase it

Hi @ilario, The configuration part of lime-app today only includes the name of the node and the ip or ip range. Not much more than that. Also the changes are in the node and do not propagate through the network. We could put some configuration in /etc/config/lime-app a list of fields to configure (name, type and uci path), but the truth is that if the community has someone able to make those changes will not use the app for it. We can still explore the option.

Revisiting this old, but still unsolved issue. It's related to #283.

We still do not have the possibility to distribute configurations in the mesh, using the LimeApp. And we don't either have the possibility to hide features in the LiMeapp at compilation time.
